Fruits of the loom
Inspired by the smell and feel of working with natural fibers, Anna Keene weaves and sews handmade garments in her traditional Saban cottage. Using a Leclerc Jack-type floor loom, Anna works only with natural fibers and dyes. She has been weaving since 1973, when she learned from Hazel Lazlo at Washington State University. Anna was also part of the weaver’s group on Saba in the 1980s working in what is now Lily Pond cottage. Her process begins with cones of natural fiber like the ones seen here – often silk, cotton, or rayon – tied onto the loom.
