Captain's Cottage was buiilt by the Hassell Family in the early 1900's with the family of Uhlrich Hassell the more recent owner.  The Hassell's go back 9+ generations to the original European settlers on Saba.  Uhlrich, like his sons and daughters, always had an exceptional garden with beautiful flowering plants. This cottage is built in the traditional mortise and tenon construction (chiseled beams and wooden pegs, not bolts or nails). The home can be admired on Park Lane--the walkway to the Saba Museum.
